Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions from the desk of Elite Pest Control, LLC.

The answer to how a person could have been exposed to and acquired bed bugs varies in the following ways: traveling, flea markets, buying used and/or worn items that were stored in a previously infested location or dwelling, receiving visitors whom were exposed to or living in an infested location, and visiting an infested location.

Absolutely not. Due to their access of mobility, bed bugs are found in residential homes, hotels, doctor’s offices, buses, and etc.. Unfortunately, they can be found anywhere.

Bed bugs do not jump or fly. Bed Bugs crawl and are very fast.

Bed bugs vary in size due to their growth stages. They start off as tiny as a pinpoint and up to ½” in size.

Bed bugs feed only on mammal blood. They are pale toned in color until their first feeding. When they feed, their coloration changes from pale toned to a darkened reddish hue.

Mice can climb any textured surface, such as a wall. They can enter a premise through an opening that is 1/4 “ or larger in size. If the crown of its head can fit through the opening, than the rest of the body will too due to its collapsible skeleton. Specifically they enter through garage doors, doorway thresholds, pipe chases (any pipes, holes, or wires leading into premise), deteriorating structures, and sometimes from neighboring houses or buildings.

One can contribute to prevention by eliminating sources around the property. Some of these sources are standing or stagnant water in unused swimming pools, collecting near poorly functioning outdoor drainage areas, trash can lids, buckets, flowerpots, leaf piles, gutters clogged with debris, and gutter spouts where water pours directly downward into poor drainage areas.

Most infestations require more than one service treatment and are usually followed through with a management program.
